Trinity St Marys Church of England Primary School Plant Crocuses

Trinity St Marys Church of England Primary School in South Woodham Ferrers have told us that the Reception and Classes 1 and 2 planted our crocus bulbs yesterday.

The children had a fantastic time and could all confidently talk about the Rotary campaign to eradicate Polio worldwide and how they were planting crocuses as they are purple, like the children's 'pinkies' to show they have been given the medicine to fight polio.

Rotary with other Health Organisations have been involved in the project since 1950 and is 99% on the way to eradicating polio globally. There have been no new cases in Africa for over a year and the focus is now on achieving similar result in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Our thanks to the staff at the school who helped to make this possible, and of course to the children who appeared to enjoy themselves planting their crocus bulbs whilst learning about  polio.
