Help & Support for Family

SWF Rotary Club received a plea from a family in the town to provide some help for their two boys.

Both boys have been diagnosed with numerous disabilities (low functioning autism and sensory processing disorder to name a couple) and are non-verbal. Due to this taking them out and entertaining them in a safe way is virtually impossible.

The family required some sort of equipment that could keep the boys entertained as well as meeting their sensory needs, but their financial situation did not allow for them to obtain such equipment. The family requested help & support from many charities without success.

The Rotary Club responded to a request to help the family who had been advised that a particular climbing frame would help meet the needs of the boys. We raised the money from local organisations, who requested anonymity, and Rotary Club put in the balance.

We would like to thank those who helped us with this community project.

Above are photographs of the  boys and their climbing frame which has provided them with the opportunity to blow off some steam at home and has also improved their self-regulation, which has a huge positive effect for them both and the family all round.
