South Woodham Ferrers Rotary Club Donates Smart Cane

We have been able to donate a smart cane to a young blind girl who

lives in South Woodham Ferrers. Four members of the Rotary Club, Past President Raj Vora, Trteasurer Don Wragg, President Geof Clark & Communities Chair Keith Clark went and visited her and her mother at their home and carried out a demonstration of the cane.

This is in addition to the aids she has with the aim to make her more confident

in going out in the town.

Below is a picture of Charlotte and her mother.

The cane is used in many parts of the world and this we understand that it is the first time it will used in the |UK.

The cane has sensors similar to those in cars used when reversing. Bleeps will intensify as the person gets closer to an object.

This is another demonstration of the club helping a local person

through the kind donations of the public in the town from the sleigh

and other fund raising activities.

We will keep everyone updated of her progress.
